Obituary for Virgil Van Winkle

Virgil Eugene Van Winkle of Green Forest, Arkansas, was born June 28, 1928 in Oak Grove, Arkansas to Hubert and Novella (Anderson) Van Winkle. Virgil passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at his home in Green Forest at the age of 92.

Virgil was united in marriage to the love of his wife, Betty Jo Van Winkle, on August 27, 1949. He was well known in the community for his custom-built homes and worked as a carpenter for 70 years.

Virgil is survived by his daughter Kathryn Pritchard and husband Jim; grandchildren Julie Wiley, Keith Dickens, Ashley Patrick and her husband Richard; brothers Arlyn Van Winkle and Dale Van Winkle and his wife Frances.

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Jo Van Winkle; parents Hubert and Novella Van Winkle; and sister Freida Tharp.

Graveside services will be 10:00 am, Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Hale cemetery with Pastor Les Robinson officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel.
