Obituary for Scott Oren Link

Scott Oren Link, a resident of Eureka Springs, AR went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, in Springdale, AR.

A memorial service will be held at the Lone Star Bible Church on Wednesday, September 23, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Carter officiating. A social distancing receiving line will be held out of doors at 10:00 a.m. Masks required.

Scott, the son of Oren R. Link and Beatrice Francis (Fee) Link, was born on September 26, 1942, in Evanston IL. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cora Albena (Jones) Link. He is also survived by their daughter, Cindy Renea, and husband Frankie Womack, and children Chelsea and Andrew. Son Scott Oren Jr., and his wife Giovanna Link and their Children Tiffany and Justin. Also survived by one brother, Gordon Link and wife Linda, nephew James Link and wife Elizabeth, niece Melissa Winters.

Scott attended the Lone Star Bible Church south of Eureka Springs where he faithfully served on the Church Board as treasurer for many years and on December 9, 2018 was ordained an Elder of the Church.

Scott attended Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky where he obtained Bachelor of Science Degrees in Marketing and Business Administration. After graduation, Scott began his career in Sales with the Kinney Shoe Corporation. He was promoted to the Corporate office in New York City where he worked in the Merchandise Distribution Department rising to the rank of Director of Merchandise Distribution for the Kinney Shoe Corporation which was later renamed Footlocker. When the corporation embarked on a goal of revamping its computer systems, he was promoted to the position of Director of Corporate Business System Planning where was challenged to identify the growth needs of the corporation and to implement systems to fulfill those needs. After completion of the implementation of the required Business Systems, he was then promoted to the position of Vice President of Merchandise Distribution for the Lady Foot Locker Division. He was then promoted to the position of Vice President of Merchandising and Planning where he served until physical limitations, due to Multiple Sclerosis, caused him to take early retirement.

Throughout his life, Scott recognized the need to serve and give back to the community. He was elected to and served on the City Council of Hightstown, NJ where he resided. He was past President of the Hightstown, N.J. Lions Club. After he and his wife moved to the Eureka Springs area, he served as chairman of the Western Carroll County Ambulance District Commission. During his tenure on the WCCAD, the responder alliance was formed to promote training of the responders and to recognize and obtain lifesaving equipment. He then served as chairman of the Carroll County Airport Commission. During his service on the commission, the much needed fuel system was acquired and plans for the construction of the new terminal were begun. Scott served as past master of the Eureka Springs Masonic Basin Spring Lodge 386, where he has continued to serve as a member.

Scott moved to the Eureka Springs area in 2000 where his many interests included landscape painting, maintaining the homestead, boating, fishing and fellowshipping with friends and neighbors.
