Ronald Hugh Atchley departed this life on June 16, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Geneva Atchley; his father, Charlie Atchley; his mother, Mildred Atchley and a brother, Deryl Atchley. He is survived by six children, eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-seven great grandchildren. He was born in Oak Grove, Arkansas, on June 27, 1929, to Charlie and Mildred Atchley. Hugh, as most people called him, graduated from Green Forest High School in 1946. He worked a variety of jobs trying to make money through hard times. He hauled milk, worked at a gas station, harvested wheat, and hauled hay. Soon after, he was drafted to fight in the Korean War for two years, where he was a transport driver. After returning from Korea, Hugh met and married Ruby Geneva Ray on August 1954. Soon after, they moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Hugh began working at Boeing Aircraft Company, and they started a family. After fifteen years at Boeing, Hugh began working for an electrical contracting company, and then moved his family back to Berryville, Arkansas, to start his own electrical contracting company. After many years, Hugh began to also work nights at the Tyson processing plant. He worked there until he was able to retire. He and Geneva then moved to West Fork, Arkansas, near Devil’s Den State Park, where they lived together until Geneva’s death in 2010.
