Obituary for Ronald Howard Hinze

Ronald Howard Hinze, 75, died peacefully at home Monday, October 21, 2019 surrounded by his wife Marcie, daughter Megan, son Derek, and Megan’s mother Karri, while being prayed over by Ron and Marcie’s dearest friend Reverand Gayle Marsh of All Saints Episcopal Church, Northfield, MN. He had been visited two days earlier by his daughters Juli and Susan from Minneapolis.
Ron had a long running television career primarily in Minneapolis, MN working for 33 ½ years for CBS through WCCO TV. He was a cameraman for CBS Sports recording 22 years of NFL football for the Minnesota Vikings; CBS Entertainment filming interviews of literally hundreds of personalities with his best friend Bill Carlson reporting; and as the head of Production 4 Studios making numerous commercials for the Minnesota Twins among other clients over a 10-year span. He and Production 4 Studios won three Emmy Awards for their public service announcements and artistic commercials. After Ron’s retirement in 1999, he and his wife Marcie moved to Las Vegas for 9 years then to Phoenix for 6 years, before moving to Holiday Island in 2014.
Ron was born October 28, 1943, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to William and Dorothy (Pittelkow) Hinze who have preceded him in death along with his older brother, Roger. Ronald is survived by his wife Marcie of Holiday Island, Arkansas; son Derek Lee also of Holiday Island, Arkansas; daughters Juli (Rob) Glazebrook of Hastings, MN, Susan Lee of Bloomington, MN, Megan Misselt of Chandler, AZ, Samantha Lee of Bloomington, MN; and son Kevin of California; 5 grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and more friends who loved him than could ever be acknowledged.
Visitation and a Celebration of Ron’s life will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2019, from 5 to 8 PM at Washburn-McReavy Chapel, Edina, MN. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 1, 2019, at 12:00PM at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, Minneapolis, MN. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to All Saints Episcopal Church, PO Box 663, Northfield, MN.
