June Horton
February 10, 1931 – January 6, 2020

June Horton was born to Milton and Linnie (Smith) High on February 10, 1931 in their home near High, Arkansas. She departed this life Monday, January 6, 2020.
On January 1, 1949 she was united in marriage to Delbert “Dee” Smith. Their surviving children are Deanna Capon of Berryville, AR, Ginger Oaks of Berryville, AR, Tim and Cheryl Smith of Ozark, MO, Reggie and Priscilla Smith of Rogers, AR and Joey and Corrie Smith of Berryville, AR; sixteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. A special stepdaughter, Pauline and Chris Law of Manchester, England; grandson Mark and Cheryl Law of Kansas City, MO. An infant son, James Leroy, preceded Dee and June in death.
June was later united in marriage to Doyal Horton on January 7, 1983, who also preceded her in death. When they married, his children became her children in her eyes. They are Joyce and Robert Fairchild of Harrison, AR, Linda and Art Gardner of Berryville, AR, Shirley and Darryl Billingsley of Barling, AR, Janie Schwyhart of Broken Arrow, OK, Loretta and Jon Gray of Bixby, OK; seventeen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.
June was born into a family of fourteen children, seven boys and seven girls. Her surviving siblings are Peggy Wolfinbarger, Kenneth High, Marvon High, Marlene Webb, Larry High, Gary High, Carolyn Fultz, Arlis High and Lester High. She is preceded in death by her sisters Bernice Dignan, Maxine Smith, Daisy Swofford and brother Danny High.
June was a faithful member of the Antioch Church of God for most of her adult life. She was an excellent seamstress and made many wedding and prom dresses, upholstered many cars, trucks, boats, etc. Children were a great love of hers. When she first met someone, she would ask if they were married and if they had any kids. She just loved people and they loved her.




Visitation will be 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the Charles M Nelson Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Antioch Church, North of Berryville, Pastors Brandon Lyle and Dale Merideth officiating. Interment will follow at High Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to High Cemetery c/o Randy Hooten, 1057 CR 422, Berryville, AR 72616.
