Obituary for James "Jim" Milton Dignan

James “Jim” Milton Dignan of Berryville, Arkansas, was born April 20, 1948 in Sanger, California son of George Martin and Beulah Bernice (High) Dignan. Jim passed away July 24, 2019 in Berryville Arkansas at the age of 71 years.

On August 25, 1973 Jim was united in marriage to Kathy (Smith) Dignan who survives him. He is also survived by two sons; Darin and wife Emily of Berryville, Arkansas, Scott and wife Carin of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; one daughter Sherri and husband Diego Haro of Selma, California, one brother Don Dignan of Cameron, Missouri, three sisters; Betty Neely of Kingsburg, California, Mary Andersen of Kingsburg, California, Pat Andersen of Selma, California; fifteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents George and Bernice Dignan.

While in California, Jim served as a volunteer fireman for his local fire station, he was a welder at Sperry New Holland, and repaired welders for Fresno Oxygen. He loved singing in a local quartet for family and friends. After moving to Arkansas he worked for M & R Container and Powells Trucking as a truck driver. Jim proudly served his country during Vietnam in the Air Force before wedding his beloved wife Kathy in 1973. His love for the gospel rivaled no other. The pews of Towering Oaks Church were filled with his singing for the latter portion of his life. Alongside attending church and singing gospel music, Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. Jim will forever be remembered for his service to his country, his heartfelt gospel, and his loving devotion to his family.

Visitation will be 4:00 pm~6:00 pm Sunday August 4, 2019 at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Funeral services Monday, August 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Towering Oaks Church, Berryville with Brother Larry Montgomery and Brother Dave McMellon officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Gideon’s International P.O. Box 362 Berryville, Arkansas 72616. Arrangements under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
