Obituary for James "Jim" Cline

James (Jim) Cline II of Berryville, Arkansas was born February 13, 1943 in Charlotte, North Carolina to John S. and Katherine A. Cline. Jim passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in Harrison, Arkansas at the age of 77.

Jim lived in Alaska for 24 years. He worked as a bush pilot flying all over the remote Alaskan wilderness. He went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration as a Flight Service Specialist in 1987 and retired in 2007.

Jim flew for the Civil Air Patrol an Auxiliary of the USA Air Force doing search and rescue missions in Alaska, Idaho and Louisiana. He was credited with many finds and received three Life Saving Certificates. He spent many hours searching for pilots, hikers and boaters and never regretted a moment of his volunteer time.

During his time in Louisiana he also volunteered as a Reserve Sheriff Deputy for 5 years. This too he never regretted.

Of all the states Jim lived in, including North Carolina, Michigan, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Louisiana and Arkansas, Alaska was where his heart really called home.

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years Patricia Rowe Cline; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Catherine Cline; two grandsons Benjamin Cline and Daniel Cline; mother in law Iris Hill Rowe; brother and sister in law Charles and Louise Landis; brother and sister in law William and Natalie Rowe; sister in law Mary Ellen Bell; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends whom he loved like family.
